Snake farm

Experience Sri Lanka’s oldest and most traditional snake farm, located between Mirissa and Weligama. The farm was founded in 1918 and is led by a third-generation Ayurvedic doctor specializing in snakebite treatment and snake conservation. Here, you’ll learn about various species, including venomous and non-venomous snakes, and the vital role they play in local biodiversity.
Tuk-tuk service from Weligama or Mirissa is available for an additional 3000 LKR (round trip). Each tuk-tuk can accommodate up to three people.

Tours are available daily. Please book in advance to secure your spot.

During the tour, visitors can observe, learn, and even interact with select non-venomous snakes under expert guidance. The knowledgeable staff provides in-depth information about Sri Lankan snakes, their behavior, habitats, and their importance in Ayurvedic medicine. Questions are encouraged, and you’ll have a chance to hold some of the snakes available on the farm that day.
